Copies of pre-cut letters and symbols covered with black geometric shapes randomly disposed. Letters that never happened to be a word.
Based on a reflection on El Lissitzky’s artworks, Sebastian Black redesigns space and graphic shapes within an artistic situation where “making signs” have to find an abstracted signification in order to arise in the middle
of a socio-political atmosphere which covers up the messages.
Following both of these ideas which are actually encountering, Black experiments this new abstraction in a context where the abstract creation leads to its own end.
Born in 1985, Sebastian Black lives and works in New York.
