Parallel to his personnel photographic practice Tiane Doan na Champassak, a french artist of Asian origin, explores the them of anonymity, collecting materiel from a variety of sources including the internet, family albums and magazine excerpts. In a previous book called Siam Guy’s, he paid a tribute to the aesthetic of Thai erotic magazines from the 60s and 70s. As custom required at the time he censored his own nudes photographs by cuting the prints where models’ breasts and genitals of were
represented. Scraps continues this project. It contains all the cut-out nipples and genitals from the nude photographs used to make Siam’s Guy. Showing them out of context almost like an abstract form.
